- Please tell us about your current department and your role there.

It is a department that designs and develops equipment involved in production at Shachihata Engineering. I’m in charge of electrical design. I’m mainly engaged in the creation of ladder programs to control production facilities and industrial machines and the control of actual equipment.

Shachihata Engineering manufactures a variety of products, so we have diverse facilities and industrial machines for them. The technologies of these facilities and industrial machines are evolving daily, and I try to design production facilities and equipment that are accurate and can operate without delay by utilising robot technology and AI.

- It seems that there are great advances in technological innovation at our current production sites with robot technology, AI, and other technologies.

- Among the work you have been involved in so far, what has been especially impressive?

One of the most popular products of Shachihata is Xstamper self-inking stamp. I was involved in the development of the quality control equipment for the holder of this Xstamper and made the electrical design for an AI image inspection unit. That was the most memorable experience for me.

It was the first time that I was mainly in charge of electrical design after I joined the company, so I had many tasks to do and challenges,[A1]  but it turned out to be good memories in the end. Despite the difficulties I experienced, I still think that it was fulfilling work because I felt an incomparable sense of accomplishment when the equipment was completed.

- The assignment of such significant work to young employees is a unique feature of this company. The company surely has a system to grow employees through their work.

- Is there anything in your work you are particularly committed to?

I listen to my senior colleagues and boss carefully and ask them immediately if I have any questions. I also proactively research on the knowledge and technological matters that I can on my own. Since I can learn cutting-edge technologies in the workplace, I strive to contribute to the production and development of Shachihata products while learning about the trends in technology every day.

- You can see that Shachihata Engineering serves as a high-quality production facility and also as a technology incubator  that researches new technologies and develops services for production facilities and products.

- Could you tell us about the environment and atmosphere of your workplace?

All my senior colleagues and my boss are very kind and teach me well, so I feel comfortable at work. There are also many friendly people who talk to me, and I have a pleasant time. It’s an inspirational workplace where I can learn new technologies, but there is also a harmonious and friendly atmosphere. So, it is easy to consult others when I face challenges, and I think it’s a workplace where I can feel myself growing every day.

- When you saw the attitudes of your senior colleagues, were there any things that were especially impressive or enlightening?

They taught me tips for writing programs well, how to make facility equipment more compact, and other things. I have been able to learn methods and ways of thinking that I could not imagine before and expand my ideas for technology design, and I often feel that this has improved my skills.

- Are there any challenges you would like to take on in the future?

The things that I can do with my current abilities are limited, and I’d like to acquire a variety of knowledge and skills so I can be assigned as the main person in charge of larger equipment design. To achieve this, I’d like to learn more difficult and new knowledge and skills.
