Developing a completely new digital stationery service that realises both comfort and environmentally friendliness
Whiteboard markers are often used in offices, educational facilities, and plants. One of the problems we often heard about from customers was that whiteboard markers were often left without any ink because they did not know when to refill them. Many customers may have felt the stress and inefficiency of not being able to draw with the markers when they wanted to. We completely reconsidered the ideal way for refilling the ink from the ground up and developed “an ink dispenser for whiteboard markers” that always refills whiteboard markers with the optimal ink. In addition to reducing the state of whiteboard markers being out of ink at customers’ sites, this service also reduces the number of empty containers of refill ink, which were disposed of each time the ink was refilled. It has received high praise from customers as a service that can contribute to both operation efficiency and environmentally friendliness.
We expand the possibilities of stamp creation through software development.
“Shachihata OSMO” makes it possible to create original stamps on the spot. Now, it has grown into a service that pleases many customers. We plan, design, and manufacture the equipment for producing “OSMO” stamps and develop software that allows customers to design stamps freely and easily. We promote research from both the hardware and software perspectives to realise operation experiences that are more intuitive, comfortable, and enjoyable. This has led to expansion of this stamp service not only in Japan but also to overseas markets under another product name.
We promote AI research. We actively explore the possibilities of AI to improve the efficiency of our production lines and to generate stamp designs.
Currently, AI technology is utilised in a variety of services. We are engaged in AI research with an eye on the possibilities for fusion of AI with the services of Shachihata. At the production sites for products, the final checks for products are one of the critical processes for delivering safe and comfortable products. To inspect products and see if there are any scratches on them or defects, we conduct research on a system that applies image judgement technology, which is one of AI technology. We are also working on stamp designs utilising generative AI technology. Our efforts to deliver better services to customers will be continued.
