- Please tell us about your current department and your role there.

I am a member of the Production Engineering Department, which prepares technology standards for products, designs and assembles jigs, and assembles samples of electrical lines and new models. In this department, I’m mainly engaged in the preparation of technology standards and sample assembly.

- Could you explain your work in detail?

Preparation of technology standards includes the standardisation and visualisation of basic and commonly used technologies related to product manufacturing. Many of the technologies we acquire can be reproduced with data, but the experience and know-how of the people involved in them are also important. My main duties are to preserve such technologies accumulated in manufacturing[A1]  and create an environment that enables the many people engaged in manufacturing to choose the optimal methods anytime.

In addition, before the company starts manufacturing new products, we prepare samples in advance to verify that high-quality products can be actually produced with our production methods.

- I understood the importance of technology standards very well. Standardisation is an important task not only to pass on technologies but also to make existing technologies grow more dramatically.

- Is there anything in your work you are particularly committed to?

I try to prepare documents that are easy to read and understand from the viewpoint of the readers. There are many employees engaged in the manufacturing of products, and they have different levels of experience. I feel that the ease of understanding of documents is of utmost importance for such members to work together and manufacture products of the highest quality without delay.

- It really is a task that creates a compass for production and manufacturing.

- Could you tell us about the environment and atmosphere of your workplace?

The environment and atmosphere of my workplace are very good. We often discuss how to conduct operations and how to deal with problems, and I can easily express my opinions and consult with my boss, senior colleagues, and other colleagues. So, I think it is a good work environment.

- Among the things you were taught by senior colleagues, are there any things that were especially impressive or enlightening?

I was advised to think not only about the work I was entrusted with but also about the subsequent tasks to be done by others. That’s what impressed me.

Technology is not something that only I need to understand but is something that needs to be understood and handled by all members of the teams engaged in production to produce excellent products and services. In production, we call tasks subsequent to our own tasks “post-processes”, and in my work, I am always thinking about whether the technology I’m using is optimal for the members of the teams engaged in post-processes, as well as for the customers who use the product. - Imagining customers who are glad to receive the products and services you are involved in is also a joy of your work.

- Are there any challenges you would like to take on in the future?

I want to engage in software-related work to expand the range of my work. Currently, I’m responsible only for the hardware for products, but I think our current products are made more comfortable and fun through both hardware and software. That’s why I also would like to get experience with software development, to produce better products while also improving myself.
